So, as much as I write and talk about vitamins, even I forget about some basics. Plain ole' vitamin C can be your best friend during cold/flu season. I ran across my bottles of C powder and set them out where I would see them. Tuesday I got a 24 hour flu and started taking the C and by yesterday afternoon I was feeling quite well. I did take an OOC cold/flu powder, but mixed the C in with it and I'm sure it helped my body recover much faster. I was using 1/2 tsp 3 times a day so I was getting 2000mg per dose. For maintenance I will continue to take that much am/pm in my vitamin drinks. You can take much more than that amount, up to 10,000 mg per day if you are fighting a really bad flu, cold or other malady. Your body will let you know when you are taking too much by giving you very loose bowels. Vitamin C is water soluble so it needs to be taken frequently in the smaller doses.
